Internet / DNS Timeline (The History of the Internet DNS)


Welcome to the Internet / DNS Timeline. This History of the Internet DNS contains events that where important to the creation of the DNS as we know it today. The timeline starts back in 1945 were some seemingly unrelated events would set the stage for what we now called the Internet today.

This Internet timeline is continually updated and refined as more information becomes available. Feel free to contact us with your comments, suggestions, and additions. The History of the Internet DNS is presented to you as a result of a Wiki. A Wiki is a collaborative database which can be edited by anyone.

A Wiki enables documents to be written collaboratively, in a simple markup language using a web browser. A Wiki is essentially a database for creating, browsing and searching information. A defining characteristic of wiki technology is the ease with which pages can be created and updated.

This Internet / DNS Timeline wiki is open to the general public without the need to register any user account. The INAIC reviews the data before modifications are accepted. Edits cannot be made in real-time, and will be online mostly within the next few days. This is to prevent abuse of the system.
